AI Phone Calls

AI phone calls are voice sessions with a companion character. Some apps place the call inside the chat. Some open a separate call screen. A few only offer short voice notes, which is not the same feature and should not be labeled as a call.

A call is only as good as the voice and the memory. A flat voice with no memory of the text thread is a demo. We listen for whether the voice matches the character and whether the call repeats the same lines. We also check the price. If the call burns the token meter in a few minutes, the review says that next to the feature, not in a footnote.

Calls do not change the privacy rules. The audio is processed on a server so the character can answer. Treat it like the text: encryption in transit and at rest, a delete control, and no real-world personal details you would not want stored.

If a product page says “call your AI” and the review does not mention a working call, we did not get one to connect. That absence is the finding.
