Memory Module

A memory module is the part of a companion app that stores facts from earlier messages and brings them back later. Without it, the character can sound warm for ten minutes and then ask your name again. With it, a detail you planted on day one can show up on day three.

Memory is not the same as a long context window. A long window rereads the recent thread. A memory system writes down a smaller set of facts, preferences, and relationship notes, then retrieves them when the chat moves on. Both can fail. The character can store the wrong detail, or it can recite a note so stiffly that the conversation feels like a form.

On the ranked AI girlfriend list, memory shows up inside chat quality, which is 20 percent of the score. Nomi is the app we point to when one continuing relationship is the goal. The test is boring on purpose. State a job, a pet, or a dislike. Leave. Come back in a new session. If it is gone, the memory module is a label, not a feature.
