Getting Started with Charstar AI

Charstar AI's sign-up process requires email verification

To get started with Charstar AI, visit their official website and press "Sign up". This is one of the few AI roleplay chatbots that doesn't allow you to sign up using Google or social media accounts. This means you need to check your email address to validate your account, which is a bit of a bummer.

Nevertheless, the sign-up process is incredibly simple and took us less than 2-3 minutes. After registering, we were offered 50 Stars (the website's virtual tokens), which we claimed right away. These tokens can be used to test the AI chats without paying.

We noticed something weird about the free Stars, though… While we were supposed to be given 50 upon sign-up, our account only showed 10 Stars. It's not a big deal, but it was disappointing nevertheless.

Charstar AI's roleplay-focused chat interface

The AI chats are the central feature on the Charstar platform, and they all take on a role-playing mechanic that should be familiar to anyone who's ever played an RPG video game or tried Dungeons & Dragons with friends. It's also reminiscent of other AI girlfriend platforms, like HeraHaven AI.

So, while Charstar AI's chats are technically characters, they feel more like interactive novels where the user is tasked with playing a certain role. This doesn't mean you can't stir the narrative in any direction you choose—even if it's a game, not exactly a conversation, you're still in control!

Our favorite thing about the Charstar AI chats? The variety of options. The chat tags speak volumes, covering everything from "Anime" and "Non-binary" to "Vampire" and "Tsundere". Here are some of the chats we had fun with while preparing this review:

• Oz: A young werewolf.
• Male Delinquent Classmate: The classmate bully.
• Makima: A "Public Safety Demon Hunter" (no, we're not making this up…).

We have nothing bad to say about Charstar AI's chats, except that we would like the free account to be more generous. Since we were given 10 Stars instead of the 50 we were promised, there was little we could do on Charstar AI before upgrading to a paid subscription.

Some of the chats we tried had up to one million messages (!), showing that Charstar AI is quite popular and seems to have a solid user base.

Create Your Own Chat

Create custom AI characters with detailed prompts and scenarios

In the section "Create", you can create your own AI chat by inserting a few prompt instructions. These are the chat definitions:

• Title
• Image
• Description
• unrestricted (you can activate or deactivate expressive conversation AI)
• Visibility (public or private)
• Tags

And these are the prompt categories you can use to customize the chat:

• Name
• Persona (a description of the leading character in the chat)
• Scenario (the situation that will be role-played in the chat)
• Greeting (the chat's initial message/setting)
• Dialogue examples

Earning Stars

Complete missions to earn Stars for platform features

The "Earn" tab is where you can find the third and final feature of Charstar AI: a sort of list of missions that you can complete in order to earn Stars.

Even though these don't always seem to work (just like when we were given 10 instead of 50 Stars after registering), it's cool that the website has an option for accessing virtual cash aside from buying it with real money.

If you want to upgrade to Charstar AI Premium (you will have to after a few messages), you have two options:

1. The monthly plan, for $14.99.
2. The annual plan, for $59.99.

Both plans have the same benefits: unlimited messages and unlimited character creation.

When everything is taken into account, Charstar AI is a cool AI roleplay platform that, despite doing little, does everything well. For that reason, we have given it an honorable 7.5/10 score.

The score isn't higher because Charstar AI supports no AI images and has a very limited free plan. We don't recommend it for users who:

• Are looking for a free AI girlfriend website;
• Are mainly interested in AI interactive messaging;
• Want to generate custom AI images and videos.

On the other hand, we believe Charstar AI is perfect for:

• Users who enjoy RPG games in the style of Dungeons & Dragons;
• AI enthusiasts looking for a fun and safe AI chat app.
